“The wound is the place where the Light enters you.” Rumi
Welcome.
I’m Vanessa Lopez, LCSW-R — a licensed psychotherapist with nearly two decades of experience helping people heal, grow, and reconnect with themselves.
Whether you’re navigating the weight of past trauma, the complexities of your relationship, a major life transition, or simply a feeling that something needs to shift — you’ve come to the right place. Therapy isn’t about being “broken.” It’s about being human, and choosing to show up for yourself.
I’ve been in private practice since 2007, and what I’ve learned over the years is this: healing happens in relationship. My approach is warm, direct, and deeply respectful of who you are and where you’ve been.
What makes this practice different
I believe that lasting change isn’t just about understanding your patterns — it’s about feeling them differently in your body. I work from a trauma-informed, somatic perspective, which means we pay attention to how stress and past experiences live in the nervous system and show up in the present moment. This is where real transformation begins.
My work has been deeply shaped by a holistic and spiritual lens — including experience with plant medicine integration — bringing a sense of meaning, depth, and wholeness to the therapeutic process that goes beyond traditional talk therapy.
I am bilingual (English and Spanish), and my bicultural background informs the way I understand identity, belonging, and the human experience. I bring that cultural sensitivity and nuance to every client I work with, regardless of background.
Who I work with
I work with adults, couples, and individuals across a wide range of life experiences. I have a particular passion and experience for:
Trauma & PTSD
If past experiences are affecting your relationships, your sense of self, or your ability to feel safe — trauma therapy can help. I use evidence-based, body-centered approaches to help you process what words alone can’t always reach.
Couples Therapy
Relationships are one of the most powerful places for growth — and one of the hardest. Whether you’re working through conflict, disconnection, or a major transition, couples therapy offers a space to hear each other again.
LGBTQIA+ Affirming Therapy
This is an explicitly affirming, inclusive practice. You deserve a therapist who truly gets it — not just in theory, but in how we work together.
Anxiety, Depression & Life Transitions
Feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or like you’ve lost your footing? You don’t have to stay there. Therapy can help you move forward with more clarity, ease, and self-compassion.
Postmenopausal Women & Midlife Transitions
This season of life brings its own complexity — identity shifts, body changes, relationships evolving, and a quiet but powerful reckoning with what matters most. This is meaningful, important work, and you deserve support that honors all of it.
Plant Medicine Integration
If you’ve had a psychedelic or plant medicine experience and are looking for a therapist to help you integrate the insights, emotions, or challenges that arose — I offer a grounded, clinically informed space for that process.
A BIT MORE ABOUT ME
I am kind, thoughtful, and genuinely curious about people. I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to therapy. Every person brings a unique story, and I tailor my work accordingly — drawing from relational, somatic, and trauma-informed frameworks that meet you where you are.
I’ve been practicing in the Hudson Valley since 2007, and I love this community. I offer both in-person sessions in Stone Ridge, NY and telehealth therapy across New York State — so wherever you are, support is accessible.
I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation, so you can get a sense of whether we’re a good fit before committing. That first step matters — and I want it to feel easy.
